Women Entrepreneurs Are On The Rise

By | Online Business | 17 Comments

Everywhere you look more and more women are becoming entrepreneurs. The shift is happening now like no other time in history.  Women entrepreneurs are on the rise for good reason.

More and more women are taking control and being responsible for their future. Women have been part of the workforce for a while but now are taking it a step further and becoming their own boss.

Like other women I stepped out of the work force and into entrepreneurship.  I was dissatisfied with my professional life. Working like a dog and selling my time to get ahead was not for me.

Let me explain.

Thirty years ago when I was young and planning my life and goals, there was no Internet, or possibility of working from home and being an entrepreneur. I was part of a family full of entrepreneur’s, all brick and mortar type businesses.

In fact I helped my husband build his business for the last 25 years. But that was an old work model that worked great back then, but didn’t fit into a dream lifestyle any more than the corporate world that I joined.

I had been feeling pulled between family time and work commitments for a long time and the corporate world of long hours did not fit in with my values of family.

Sadly when my daughter passed away in a drowning accident the one thing I wished for over and over again was just a little more time with her. I was aching for any time I could get, an hour, a few minutes, a few seconds – anything.

I told myself time will heal and to be grateful for having a “good job.” But as time went by I became more and more frustrated by my lack of control over my life. I decided it was time to stop listening to other people, and to start listening to my heart. I became my own boss. I became a female entrepreneur.

Now as my parents are ageing and my kids were getting older, I’m ecstatic to be in control of my schedule and time. Becoming an entrepreneur with my home-based business was the solution for all my frustration. I just needed to listen to my own heart and take the leap of faith.

It makes complete sense for more and more women because the old work models never did fit our lives or us. Female entrepreneurs can custom fit their work and business to fit their passions, desires, values, interests and families.

It’s an exciting time for women as more and more women build their dream lifestyle through entrepreneurship. Everyday through our coaching program we see the enjoyment women have as they learn how they can build their business around what is truly important to them.

We have learned that female entrepreneurs have got to be willing to try new things, learn new skills and accept the challenges that will surely face then. Are you ready to listen to your heart and join us?

Favorite Ahi Tuna With Basil Pesto Sauce Recipe

By | Women's Health | 3 Comments

We love to cook and we are always looking for healthy recipes. Here is one of our favorite Ahi Tuna recipes and we thought it would be fun to share it with you.  This recipe is sooo easy and tastes really good. The key is the fish – make sure you get  fresh, or the flash frozen Ahi Tuna. Ladies, people love this, and it’s great for entertaining. In the summer you can cook the tuna outside on the grill. We adapted our own version from a recipe we found online. Serves 4.

  • Live A Life Without Limits2 (2-inch thick) tuna steaks (about 1 pound each)
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 garlic clove, peeled
  • 2 ½ cups fresh basil leaves
  • 1/4 cup toasted pine nuts
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil (can adjust for the consistency you like)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

Wash and pat dry the tuna steaks and season with salt and pepper. Spray non-stick griddle pan with non-stick cooking spray. Place tuna on hot grill pan and sear each side for 2 minutes for rare. If you prefer your tuna cooked more, cook the tuna an additional 2 to 3 minutes per side. Remove from skillet and let it rest.

In a food processor, add the garlic, basil leaves, pine nuts, salt, and pepper. Pulse until finely chopped. With the blender still running, slowly pour in 1/4 to 1/2 cup of olive oil. Amount of olive oil can be adjusted. Check for a thick, yet smooth consistency, adding more oil if necessary. Transfer to a bowl and stir in 1/2 cup Parmesan.

Slice the tuna across the grain and on a bias into 1/2-inch thick slices. Place the slices on a serving plate and drizzle with lemon juice. Serve tuna with pesto sauce spooned over top.

This recipe makes a generous portion of pesto sauce and the pesto sauce is great over pasta or chicken also.

Entrepreneurial Success Is In All Women

By | Successful Women | 15 Comments

Life throws a curve ball to all of us at one time or another.  We get excited about something in our life, make big plans as to how we are going to achieve it or what our life will be like when we find success and then comes the curve ball, the unplanned, the unexpected.

True entrepreneurial success is in all women its in finding an alternate route or plan. There is always an alternate route it just may not be so obvious.  Life has lessons for us all, and the alternate route may in the end be the perfect route for you. It just may be a bumpier ride.

My niece is a perfect example of this.  After graduating from college she was full of excitement. Life was going just as she planned. She was starting to work as a schoolteacher, had gotten married to her high school sweet heart, and was pregnant.

Life was perfect.

Then came the curve ball. She was on a field trip with her class when she developed a terrible headache and collapsed. She was rushed to the nearest emergency room and then helicoptered two hours away to the University Hospital in San Francisco. She had a blood vessel in her brain that had ruptured and was taken into emergency surgery to repair it. We were very fortunate that surgery had gone well.

That was two years ago and tomorrow morning I will be driving to San Francisco to be with her during surgery. Surgery number 10 on her brain.

Something I can do because I am an entrepreneur, but that’s a different story.

I share her story because my niece had no idea when she graduated from college how very different her life was about to be. But she has stayed true to her goals and dreams and is finding her “alternate route.”

She plans on the day that she can return to being a schoolteacher. She feels it is her true calling and that this past two years that she has been ill has been a life lesson that she is still learning from.

She knows that her purpose in life is expanding and that this is her story that she will someday be able to share so that other people will benefit. The entire lesson is not clear yet but we know in time it will be.

The universe, who we call God, has life lessons that we are here to learn and these we can’t plan for. But we can learn to embrace and accept them and know that there is always an alternate route.

Women entrepreneurs are always challenging themselves and opening themselves up to new lessons. Sometimes the path itself may have a slight shift, but there is always the opportunity to learn and grow.  Successful entrepreneurship comes in the persistence, learning and growing.

If life is throwing you a curve ball you may need to step back and reexamine your path. The road to your dreams has many paths. Step back and take a look at your strategies. Are your strategies working? Do you need to ask for someone’s opinion or help? Do you need to attend a seminar? Are you resisting the next step that once you step through, will get you the success you are looking for?

What ever it is, we know that success is here for you. Don’t give up on your dreams; you are closer than you think.  We have a 7-day training series to help you achieve the lifestyle of your dreams, “living A Life Without Limits.”  We will help you build your goals, strategies, balance and much more, sign in at the top of this page, Live A Life Without Limits.

7 Essential Branding Tips For Women In Home Based Businesses

By | Online Business, Women In Business | 19 Comments

So you have taken a huge leap of faith and decided your going to be an entrepreneur and have your own home business. Then someone asks you what are you going to do? There is a moment of silence as you try to put into words exactly what you’re product or service is.

This is your first step in developing your brand. Branding is a clear message to your potential clients about who you are and what you can do for them. A clear message is essential for women in home-based businesses. Your brand is how your business shows up in everything you do. Here are 7 essential tips for building your brand.

1. Have a clear message. To have a clear message you need to define your brand. Here are some questions to ask yourself. What do you want to be known for? What do you want people to think of when they think of your business? What expectations do you want your clients to have.

2. How are you different then your competitors? Be very specific. What makes you better then your competition? Do you have better service, faster service; are you more reliable, have a better guarantee? Determine the things that set you apart from your competition so that your customers will know why they should choose you.

3. Be very specific and clear about whom your niche, or ultimate client is. Who is it that you would like to work with? Think of who you enjoy being around or who you would enjoy helping. For example other moms or other female entrepreneurs.

4. What problem or challenge does your ideal client have?

When we started our business we did not give enough thought to who our ultimate client was and what their problem was. This was a costly mistake. Our marketing message was not specific to a single group, which meant no one really identified with the message. No one thought, “they’re talking to me.”

Huge mistake for home-based business owners because their marketing dollars are not being spent efficiently. The clearer your message the more your ideal client will be able to identify with it and find you.

5. Have a very specific message about how your product or service helps solve your niche market client’s problems. The more tailored and specific you are the more clear your message.

6. Show up the exact same way in everything you do. Your message, colors, logos, business letters, business cards and blog posts should all look the same and have the same clear message.

7. Be consistent in your action. Your potential client will learn that you are reliable, but also the consistent action will help them to remember who you are and what your business message is.

Your brand is all about deciding how you want your business to show up and being consistent with the message. People will start to notice and remember your message and be able to share your message with other potential clients.

My partner Elena and I are excited to help you build your dream life through entrepreneurship.

Your Empowered Life

By | Empowered Women | 9 Comments
When we think of a life of “true bliss,”

we think of a place  where we follow our hearts desire, our dreams our goals and aspirations.

We think of finding fulfillment and having a life of purpose. An empowered life where you live your life to it’s limits.

Sounds great! The problem, we don’t typically spend much time following our dreams and aspirations. We are too busy in our day to day schedule to even look up out of the fog to know what we truly want in life.

For me, I was making a good living, but I wasn’t making a good life, I wasn’t “living a life without limits.”

I was chasing down the wrong rabbit hole.
I thought as long as I was bringing home a good paycheck,
the family was healthy, and no major catastrophe was happening then
I was on the path of, “true bliss.”

The reality, I was coming home from my job feeling, “spent,” with no energy
for anything else in my day, and no patience.

I hated coming home to the most important people in my life like that.
Let me explain.

I get off work one day a little late. It had been an extremely busy day and I was feeling especially tired. I just wanted to get home and relax.

Instead I’m stuck in commuter traffic for 55 minutes and I can feel myself getting more frustrated as each minute goes by.

“Just relax I tell myself,” and I turn the radio up a little louder, trying to just revel in the music.

My mind gets side tracked into all the things I still have to do when I get home. I think, “I should have gotten dinner started before I left this morning.”

I walk through the door and the first words I hear are from my son, “ hey mom I don’t get this homework, I need you to help me.”

“I’m busy you need to figure it out yourself,” I reply.

“I can’t I already tried.”
The exchange continues for a few more minutes and ends with my son saying,

“OK fine I’ll just have my teacher help me tomorrow.”

Teachers reading this are probably cringing right now.

Not my idea of being an empowered women or having an inspired, dream life. It’s days like this that we all have, We know there is something better and yet we settle.

Why do we settle?
The challenge for me was to determine what it was I wanted, what my dream life looked like what my life of aspirations and purpose was. Then moving towards them was scary as h*ll.

Yes change is scary (honestly some days, bloodcurdling) and tough, but look at the alternative.

Imagine what it would be like once you have achieved it. Life is short and as they say, there is no time like the present. For me the best decision I ever made was to follow my heart. To become an entrepreneur and to live my life my way.

For change to really happen for you it must come from a very personal place in you.

You have to get to a place where you decide the pain of being where you are now is more than the pain of change.

You know that place that says, “I just can’t do this any more.”We have all been there at one time in our lives with something.

Then you muster up all the courage you can find and, “go for it.” Sounds easy, but not so much.

You’ve been there where you start to take the steps forward and then you quit, we all have.

To shift your life in the direction you want it to go, it all starts and ends within you. The payoff is monstrous and once you start taking the small daily steps, each day gets easier.

You have already seen this in your own life. We have each made changes in our lives that at first we were uncertain of, but as we had small success we became more and more confident and then eventually looked back and felt this huge sense of pride and accomplishment.

We all have greatness in us, our hearts desires, dreams and goals can all be manifested. Go for your dreams with passion, commitment,  patience, and persistence. They are totally achievable for you.
