Having Faith That Any Loss Can Be The Catalyst That Creates Your Best Life

life is a journey - positive thoughts

Faith is a journey that comes with the journey of life.

With each lesson and experience we have a choice to deepen our faith or be bound by disempowerment or fear.

We give our experiences in life an emotional identity.

We can choose to embrace positive thinking in every situation.

It took me time to understand that.

That the events in our lives are truly neutral, that our thoughts are what give it the powerful emotion that we connect with the experience. The event or circumstance has no meaning until we give it meaning and every event and circumstance in our life you have the power to attach positive thinking and meaning to.

I know that some of you are thinking, that’s cr*p.

Not many people knew about my second child. Her life and death was really something I kept hidden. For years she was my silent secret child. It’s because I had attached strong negative emotions to her death. I remember saying, “how can this happen to me?”

I felt guilty that I hadn’t protected her “well enough.” I kept silently telling her over and over, “I’m sorry.”

There can be a destruction that loss can leave. Whether the loss is death, divorce, serious illness, loss of a job, or loss of innocence.

The destruction that loss can leave can be the catalyst that creates your life!

It was up to me to take the event and use it as a catalyst to learn and create the life I wanted. The truth is, I attached, guilt, victim and negative thoughts to her death.

It was up to me to, #1 want to change the emotions and then, #2 have the courage to change.

Lets face it anytime we get used to an idea, emotion, or experience we get comfortable and it takes courage to move out of the comfort zone no matter what we are holding on to.

A great example is when we hold onto relationships that aren’t good for us, but they become comfortable. I had a relationship with my daughter even though she was not here physically. It wasn’t a good one but I was comfortable with it.

It took work to let those feelings rise back up and to feel them. It hurt to bring emotions back to the surface, but here is where I could give them a new thought, create positive thinking and a new identity.  Here is where I could let go of the grief, guilt, and victim feelings and bring in some gratitude.

This is where faith is part of our journey. It’s so much harder to forgive yourself and change your thoughts when there is no faith. Without faith you are left with the thought that life is full of random events.

Faith gives you a feeling that the events in your life have purpose. With faith it’s easier to take the experience and be grateful for lessons that the experience offers.

This is where we all have the choice do we take the “leap of faith,” or do we allow the circumstance, or events define us. We would love to help you explore your feelings and help you create positive thoughts from your past experiences.

  1. There are always two sides to each event – it can be often easy to focus on the negative. And it’s good to acknowledge and process them. But the positive is always there to, waiting to be found.

  2. Great post Jean. I especially liked the comment that ‘Faith gives you a feeling that the events in your life have purpose’ – so true. This was a great reminder. Thanks.

Thanks Dawn. I truly believe every event in our lives is for a reason and if we don’t learn the lessons the first time we keep getting the event until we do.

  4. Life is full of random events and that thought will remain if we do not have faith. It’s what keeps us going. Thanks for sharing your post.

  5. We are not here by accident, God has a plan and things are all part of His bigger picture. I am discovering as I grow older that it is not as much what happens to us in life as our attitude going through it. It truly does make a difference. Hard times, struggles & pain is NOT a respecter of people. It rains on the heads of good or bad people… and Jesus warned us before he left that there would be pain in this world. Yup… but he would walk through it with us if we let him. Goes back to our attitude. Shall I go through this alone, and perhaps become bitter, resentful or find solace in things that hurt me – or – shall I rest in my Saviour for comfort, direction and peace. The choice is always ours… Great post. You are awesome! x0x

Thank you Norma. It’s true, it’s not the events in our life, it’s the thoughts and beliefs we choose to believe as we go through them that determines our life without limits!

Your welcome Hilda. It takes practice to stop and notice what we are thinking and them realize that we have the choice within us to create the thoughts and emotions that we want.
